essentially flip flopped on every single position. >> there is a review on the debate i saw, romney seemed no be on the defensive, and shifted rapidly, and looked like he was about to tear up doing his closing remarks. >> stephanie: yeah. i think there was a little piling on on the part of pundits. i don't think it was has bad as people -- it wasn'tn't a reason for chris matthews to strike out -- >> it wasn't the president's best performance -- >> it was the worst debate ever! it is the end of the world! >> stephanie: he was on bill maher a couple of weeks ago and bill maher told him to cam down and he goes this is calm! let's go to marilyn? hey, marilyn. oh, dear. the president talking about the jobs numbers. >> obama: today's news should give us some encouragement. it shouldn't be an excuse for the other side to try to talk down the economy. >> stephanie: and here is mitt romney. >> romney: when i'm president of the united states -- [ cheers and applause ] >> romney: that unemployment rate is going to come down not because people are giving up and dropping out of the
romney supporter. the brown warren debate. if you want to have some fun this morning if you're feeling like you're unpopular in the workplace, do on the twitter and just search the words david and gregory and see what pops up. because after last night's debate, i have never seen more scorn heat on a debate moderator in my life. i didn't see the entire debate. i saw most of it and i think david gregory was really hard on both candidates. and if you look on the twitter today, you'll see liberals feel he was completely biased and conservatives feel the same way. maybe david was doing something right. he was not doing something right over the weekend on "meet the press" when he actually misquoted the president. to a rather alarming extent and falsely claimed that barack obama had claimed that al-qaeda had been defeated. of course, if you heard the actual speech of barack obama he talked about how al-qaeda was on the run. he said barack obama had said that the goal that i set to defeat al-qaeda and deny it a chance to
that obama had a bad debate, didn't do what he was supposed to do but mr. romney lied. >> bill: you are absolutely right. again, i compared romney's debate performance to the ryan speech in tampa. it was a good performance but it was packed with lies. i think the entire media was focusing on stage craft and performance or entertainment or acting ability and not on the substance of what they said. on the substance of what he said mitt romney simply did not tell the truth about the $5 million, about health care, about a whole lot of stuff. kevin in chicago, kevin getting rid of big bird good idea? >> caller: yeah, my granddaughter is four years old, so i'm ul up to speed on big bird. and it brings back memories of when my kids were young. >> bill: same here. >> caller: it is just an example of the crap that comes out of his mouth. they don't realize the value of putting something on tv for the kids to watch -- >> bill: and learn, yeah. >> caller: and the whole industry that has spawned off of it of the kids toy, and everything -- >> bill: you got it. big bird is a
're interested in the debates than the romney voters. it is almost like we want to see our guy get up there and really take it to romney. so i think that it is unlikely that the debate will influence that many people. both of these candidates are good debaters. it is a format that both of them, i think will come across as leaders and knowledgeable. so i bet it doesn't move that many voters unless someone makes a mistake. we'll see. we've never been in this terrain before. >> jennifer: you've been doing this awhile. how much impact do debates on the presidential level really have usually? >> usually, they can have quite a bit. particularly for a challenger. you've been in this situation too. i have to commend you governor, you're one of the few women officeholders who decisively won her debates. usually to is harder for women to win their debates. you really killed your opponent in the debates. you have a lot of good advice to give in this regard. but it helps the challengers usually because it is the first time th
and just three points in nevada where the debates are taking place tonight. with both romney and the president wrapping up final debate practice yesterday, joe biden was in north carolina and paul ryan in iowa. they traded jabs over the middle class. >> vice president biden just today said that the middle class over the last four years has been buried. we agree. >> mitt romney is under pressure to give more details into both his tax reform proposal and plans for the middle class. yesterday, he finally offered up an idea saying in order to pay for his reform each taxpayer would have a limit on how much they could deduct. the number he threw out was $17,000 and compared that to a bucket saying you can take whatever deductions you want but once you hit $17,000 that's it. we heard his plan for undocumented immigrants. he would not revoke the temporary limitations adopted by the president but if elected there would be no more protections. we're coming back after the break. >> i wouldn't be where i am today if it wasn't for capella university. i go to work every day and know that i
afterwards the conversation about the debate obama is going to win. romney has been on the liberal, moderate, conservative side of almost every issue. and at some point america is going to have to say to yourself, can i trust which way the wind is going to blow on his policy issues if he becomes president. >> stephanie: right. how do you refute when he appears to have made up a new policy on the spot. it's like yes, you are. this has already been fact checked -- who -- >> polititfact? >> stephanie: no that looked at romney's budget. i don't know how you respond to that. >> yeah. >> stephanie: romney is just like na-uh. >> what? is that the answer? >> stephanie: okay. scottie in texas real quick. >> caller: hey stephanie this is scottie in texas. >> stephanie: yes. >> caller: as a former mormon i know what mitt romney wants to do, and this is what is frightening. mitt romney is a member of the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints. he thinks the end is coming. i am fearful he will use that excuse to push the button and bring jesus back. and that is very ver
